GUNSTOCK WINTER TRIATHLON HAS BEEN CANCELLED Because of unseasonable temperatures and the uncertainty of snow for the race, the Gunstock Winter Triathlon has been cancelled. All registration fees will be refunded by mail during the next two weeks. USAT will be naming a new race, probably somewhat later in the year, as the USAT Winter Triathlon National Championship. Look for details on the USAT website. Elmwood Endurance Events apologizes for any inconvenience.

USAT National Championship Event
The Gunstock Winter Triathlon promises to yet again provide a fantastic and challenging course on Gunstock's professionally designed nordic trail system. There will be an option to do the full course or a short course, plus the added option of completing the race as a relay team. Athletes will also be eligible to qualify to represent Team USA at the ITU World Championship in Finland March 24, 25, 2012.

Come and join us for the whole weekend, which will include an optional pre-race overview and a wine and cheese candlelight ski on Saturday, and the Gunstock Winter Triathlon on Sunday.
Date: Sunday, January 22, 2012
Time: Race starts at 10:00am, Warm-up starts at 9:00am
Location: Gunstock Mountain, Gilford, NH (Get Directions)
Championship Course:
4K Trail Run, 7K Mountain Bike, 6K X-Country Ski
Short Course:
4K Trail Run, 3.5K Mountain Bike, 3K X-Country Ski
Both racers will start together and do the full two loops of the run course. The short course racers will then only do one loop of the bike course and one loop of the ski course.

Awards:
Awards will be given to the top 3 M&F in the following categories: Junior (10-19), Senior (20-44), Masters (45+) for the Championship course, and top 3 M&F in the short course. We will also have an award for the top team. However, the results will show the USA Triathlon Divisions for those wishing to qualify for Team USA.
Winter Triathlon World Championships:

Cost:
11/1-12/31:Individual $65, Relay $95
1/1 - 1/20: Individual $70, Relay $105
If you are not a USAT member a one-day race licence will be an additional $15.

Packet pick up will be on Saturday evening from 5-6 pm and Sunday morning from 9.00-9.45am in the GNA Clubhouse (Accross the street from the Gunstock XC Center)
Some of us will be joining in the Gunstock XC Center's 'Wine and Cheese Candlelight Ski' starting a 6pm from the XC Center, more details can be found on there site Here
There will be an optional pre-race briefing on Saturday at 3pm and Gunstock XC Center is hosting a ski waxing clinic between 10-11am
(Optional) Pre-Race Briefing:
3 - 3.45pm - January 22, 2011 – Gunstock Mountain, Gilford, NH
This is a free and optional pre-race briefing, this will allow you to meet the race director and ask questions that you might have about the course and winter triathlon. We are also planning on having clinics and waxing services available
You will not be able to pre-ride (run/bike) the course until race day.

1. We have negotiated a discounted rate at Gunstock Inn for a standard room, and blocked off a few rooms until the beginning of January. Book early to avoid disappointment. Last year all the rooms sold out.

All athletes will receive a race T-Shirt if signed up by January 10, otherwise its first come, first served with any extra shirts we order.

High School FREE Entries
We have a limited amount complimentary entries for high school students that have shown promise in running, mountain biking, cross country skiing, or similar sports and have the drive to represent winter triathlon at the regional level. All the athlete would need to pay is the USAT fee ($15) and the trail fee ($12) Those interested should email Eric.
